Felipao
Felipao is the stage name of Felipe García-Bañón Sanz-Briz, an artist who happened to be born in Morocco and who, as the son and grandson of diplomats, has lived all over the world, including the United Arab Emirates, France, Kenya, Nicaragua, and Pakistan. This cosmopolitan lifestyle and exposure to different cultures have given him a multifaceted view of the world.
He settled in Madrid in 1983. With a degree in economics and business from ICADE, his working life has been spent in various multinational companies such as Bristol-Myers Squibb, Telecinco, Repsol, etc. In 2009, he decided to make a big change in his life. His need to communicate his experiences, his vision, and what had been his passion until then led him to leave the world of multinationals and devote himself entirely to art.
Over the years, he has exhibited in Germany, the United States, Hong Kong, Mexico, and the United Kingdom, among other countries, both collectively and individually. He has held public exhibitions ("Podenco Dafne y Lucas" - Galería P Art Ibiza). His works can be found in important private collections such as those of Juan Antonio Pérez Simon, Philippe Starck, former President César Gaviria, and the Koplowitz, March, and Varez families, among others.
His sculpture of the polyhedral menina, has been selected by the City Council of Madrid as an institutional gift, one of them was given to the president of Real Madrid CF the day the project of the new stadium was presented to the mayor's office.
